SCTP Nationals 2022 is in the books. Has been for over a month now…but it is such a huge undertaking that it takes us a while to get back to “normal” afterwards. This is the first chance I’ve had to write down all the wonderful memories. To quote the wise words of Jona Cole of Cole Gunsmithing, “Being a small business owner can be hard. Retail is not my forte…but this, this is my ‘why’. Shotgun sports produce some pretty fabulous youngins…blessed to be a part of their journey.”
She couldn’t have said it better! The youngins are also our WHY. Clayshootingapparel.com was born from a fundraiser t-shirt sale we had for the youngins of our own Hunting Hills Hawkeyes team during the first few months of Covid. That’s how the whole “Yell & Break Things®” line began…for the youngins.
We love traveling to SCTP Nationals…it’s the highlight of our entire year! We love meeting so many of the young shooters and their coaches and families for whom we’ve designed uniforms and fanwear throughout the year…love seeing our handiwork walking all around Cardinal Center! It does my heart good and really drives our WHY home in a big way.
We love watching our son Logan and his team, The Hunting Hills Hawkeyes, compete in sporting clays, trap and skeet. But we also enjoy watching ALL the young shooters in the competitions, many who have become good friends.
This was only our second year as a vendor at SCTP Nationals, but the positive effects of those 10 days reach far beyond Cardinal Center as we quickly learned earlier this year! Many of the wonderful people we met at the 2021 event became customers this spring when it was time to order new shooting jerseys for their teams. And with the introduction of our new online fanwear stores this year, we were able to offer matching fanwear items that family and friends could purchase, earning a nice percentage back as team fundraisers. Win-win for sure!
